1and1 Fumble Exchange Server Update

If any of my clients are reading this, then please be aware of the fact that I currently have no email access, due to a problem with my mail host botching an exchange server update.

This is a huge issue for me, I rely completely on my Microsoft Exchange account to organise my entire working life including email, calendar, contacts, tasks and notes. I figured paying for a premium service would guarantee I had access to a robust solution, but it seems I was wrong.

If you have recently sent me an email which requires action, or are waiting for an email from me, then things are looking grim at the moment, it has been fifteen hours so far and they have still not fixed the problem, the current response they are giving is that they are aware that there is an issue, and their engineers are working on it.

Hi - is your microsoft exchange working yet? Ours is still down!!!

  2. Mac says:

It came back, then it went again, now it seems to be working fine, although 2 days without email was a complete headache.

  3. Mac says:

This is ridiculous, its down again now, this will be my third day without email this week!

  4. kitkat says:

My boss is a genius! We have found that if we go into the exchange proxy settings and change the exchange server from .co.uk to .com, although verrry slow, we are able to connect to our exchange mail using our outlook client. Try it. If you want the technical reason, it may be something to do with dns entries not being updated?!?!?!

  5. Mac says:

Hey thanks! That worked! Very slow as you say, and I can’t get my smartphone to work this way, but at least I have my email back on my laptop now!

I have to say though that I will not be renewing my exchange account with 1and1 when my current billing cycle expires, six days of downtime in two months is unacceptable.
